Weekend In Playa Del Coco, Pt.1

We caught wind that there was going to being a in shore fishing tournament up north in Playa Del Coco, making a quick decision while recovering from the previous nights ‘Ladies Night’ we packed in with our friend Charlie and ventured over ‘The Monkey Road’, a 4 wheel drive must, and made our way to Playa Del Coco. The trip is scenic even in the dry season and before long we found our selves on the shores of Coco.

The tournament was the first annual.

The next morning bright and early we were out to sea to go and fish by the ‘bat islands’ near santa rosa national park. We had a little bit of wind coming from the north, but we motored out an hour and a half un-deterred. We were finding a lot of bait, but nothing bigger that was hungry and out for an easy meal. With the breeze at our backs we moved a bit closer to and underwater water rock and started jigging. with a hard day of bait catching behind us we were rewarded with two beautiful fish, a strawberry grouper, and a jack that put up a great fight.

The evening was capped with a great meal in a nice open air restaurant close enough to the beach to catch the breeze.Tomorrow the next day the wind would die down and the water turn beautiful.
